Work - Restoration

Sullington Tythe barn

An enormous Tythe barn in Sullington, West Sussex received a grant from Countryside Stewardship to restore this architectural treasure. The main contractor John Russel (Timber Structures) appointed The Flint Wall Company as the masonry and flint contractors.

As part of the works a section of the south wall was carefully documented prior to demolition. Once the timber roof was supported the wall was carefully taken down piece by piece and the masonry reclaimed.

The wall was then rebuilt to match the original, reclaimed wood fired bricks were sourced to match those in need of replacement.
