Beaconsfield New Home

Knapped flints, tightly laid and framed with ashlar stone

A new Banner Homes development in the heart of the old Buckinghamshire town of Beaconsfield was planned in consideration of the local architecture.

The very active planning and conservation department of Buckinghamshire council were keen that a number of the houses referenced the flint buildings in the immediate vicinity, in particular the flint work of St Mary and All Saints Church opposite.

The Gate House that stands at the entrance to the new estate was clad with knapped flints, tightly laid and framed with ashlar stone to link it with the Church.

Two other houses were clad with flint that referenced the more informal local vernacular. The project totalled in excess of 300 square metres of flint work.
